People could try to bring you down. People may try to hurt you. People will sometimes use social media to bully you. In our opinion, this is all pure cowardice.
Make your force field now references the ever popular “Star Wars “ franchise. This author recalls watching the first installment as a child. “Use the force, Luke!” As a kid, this quote symbolized to me that the primary movie character, Luke had to protect himself from his enemies. Granted, this movie was made a long time ago, in the late 1970’s. However to us, it still represents a pillar of strength, perseverance, good versus evil, as well as a multitude of metaphors both negative and positive.
Today cyber bullying is a prevalent form of harassment and abuse. We hope that it diminishes but unfortunately, it may be around forever. Because I am a dreamer and care about our children and those that are enduring these cyber bullying attacks, I want to help put an end to this horrific form of cowardice. If you have read some of our blog posts, you may get a sense that this author has experienced his share of trauma. What has worked for me is to formulate a metaphoric “force field “ around me to ward off not only others who may be out to hurt me but the amount of pressure and criticism I put upon myself. Does this force field always work and protect me? No it does not. It does in fact assist me build my powerful wall of protection around me full of confidence and strength.
Please continue to protect your children. Please continue to monitor what social media platforms they are using. Please continue to do the best you can as caring parents to help protect and support your children as they battle against their bullies and inner demons.
Please educate them on how to create their own force field. Please do this now and do it with compassion and kindness.
In addition to what you've written it's good to teach children that just because someone says something doesn't mean it's true or right for them! They can reject the unkind.
A technique some people teach their children (and afults) is to see themselves surrounded by a mirror a technique some people teach their children is to see themselves surrounded by a mirrored ball that sends away negativity.
Another good visualization is at the end of a bathings one doesn't need to hold on to going right down the drain.
